ART (Active Release Technique)

About

ART® is a state-of-the-art, movement-based, soft tissue release technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Pretty much anything we can get our hands on!

Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART®. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

North Sydney Sports and Chiropractic is considered to be the premier ART clinic in Sydney.

Our ART Practitioners are some of the most experienced in Australia. Andrew, our Principal Chiropractor was fortunate enough to train under the Founder of ART, Dr. Mike Leahy while he was still teaching in Australia.

When combining ART with chiropractic care and management and corrective exercises, the results are impressive. Often the results are instant pain relief and longer lasting results.

Who needs ART?

ART can be used on a large range of soft tissue based conditions, including;

What to Expect

You will need to fill in our Initial Consultation Form (available from our website). We will ask you for detailed information regarding your condition and also other bits of information that you may not feel relevant, but may certainly important for us to formulate a better understanding of your condition. Once we have enough information from you, we will perform a physical assessment, which involves screenings and tests to help us firstly, re-create your pain and secondly, to better understand how or why your problem even exists. This second step is often the most valuable for us (and you), because if we can establish why you are having pain, it helps us to prevent and manage your condition much more effectively. After this step, we begin treatment. As we combine ART with our other treatment modalities, each session will differ on a case-by-case basis. Occasionally, some patients prefer ART as a standalone modality. Please let us know if that is your preference. Once the first treatment has finished, we will discuss the treatment options or treatment plan, which will outline the best way to approach the management of your condition. This will often outline how many sessions we require to successfully resolve your condition, but also other valuable advice and recommendations to successfully prevent your problem from coming back, like stretching and strengthening exercises for example.
