Whether you are training hard all week or slouched over your desk, your muscles will get tight, knotted and sore. At North Sydney Sports and Chiropractic we offer sports massage and remedial massage to help relieve your pain and improve your mobility.

Remedial massage is a form of soft tissue manipulation, which encourages healing through increased circulation and blood flow to the tissues under stress. This not only helps the healing process but also decreases muscle spasm and pain. Our therapists have been specifically trained to detect and treat these muscles aches and pains.

Our Therapists work alongside our Chiropractor and Exercise Physiologist to ensure the best and most effective outcomes for you.

Sports Massage North Sydney

We offer sports massage in North Sydney out of our clinic. Our North Sydney therapists are trained in a variety of remedial techniques including sports massage. Sports massage is a sport specific technique designed to return you to your previous level of activity. This form of muscular pain treatment is based on an understanding of the pressures your body faces in the specific sport you engage in. Sports massage can often be a more rigorous and targeted toward specific areas and deep tissue.
If you have succumbed to injury or suffering from pain associated with your sport we recommended a discussion with one of our therapists regarding your treatment options.

Katie Robertson

Bachelor of Science (Honours Degree Sports Therapy)

Katie has graduated with a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Sports Therapy from Teeside University, Middlesborough, England. Sports Therapy is not as well known here in Australia, it is an area of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of patients back to optimum level of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness. This is achieved through massage techniques such as remedial massage, active release, trigger point therapy and rehabilitative exercises and stretches.

Katie’s speciality is in injury prevention and firmly believes that the treatment does not end in the treatment room. Katie encourages all patients to be proactive about their condition and not just pain based care. Katie has a special interest in treating ankle complaints. At university, she conducted a clinical trial on The effects of soft tissue release on ankle range of motion. The results were quite positive in improving ankle range of motion.

Katie has experience working with both Soccer and Rugby teams within Scotland and England. Her role involved managing athletes from all ages and abilities.

She has also worked within a busy walk in Sports Therapy clinic which was available for both sporting professionals and the general public. Furthermore she has also supported charity events such as the Race for Life Cancer Research UK and Junior Soccer tournaments.

What to expect

On your first visit, you will be required to fill out our Initial Consultation Form. We will require some information about yourself and why you are visiting us i.e. sore back and shoulders etc. We will also ask for some other information which you may feel to be irrelevant, but this will allow our therapists to get a better understanding of your presenting condition.

After this step, you will be taken to our private and concealed massage room, where you will be asked to undress (or put on a gown if you feel more comfortable). To help you get into the relaxed state, our therapists will use warm scented towels on your feet. This will melt away all your stress, so we can then begin the massage.

During your massage, your therapist will ask for your feedback, so please feel free to let them know at this point if you would like them to change their technique. Once your session has finished and you would like to book in another session with your therapist, you can do so at the front desk. We do offer discounted Pre-pay packages, where you can pay for 5 massages and receive the 6th one free. Check our FAQ’s page for more details.
